On Wednesday afternoon, science classes turned incredibly exciting as the students performed experiments on state changes in matter after they had learned about the subject in the classroom. All the students had a great time!

Maybe the best part about attending the 2018 Cambridge Summer STEAM Camp is taking part in the Broadway musical Oliver! Audition for the lead roles took place on Wednesday afternoon, and all the kids learned the first song of the musical, Food, Glorious Food!

Everyday at noon, most students eat nutritious and delicious restaurant-prepared lunch, or they bring their own lunch. After lunch, there are various fun activities, such as watching movies, watching Cambridge Got Talent (musical instrument) or Cambridge Idol (singing) competitions, competing in chess competitions under the watchful eye of a high school national chess champion, or competing in Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments. Or the little kids can just be silly and hang around the big Teddy bear.

A healthcare professional taught the kids CPR during the science class. All the kids trained hard in the art of saving human lives.

After the grueling CPR training, it was time to unwind at the nearby Butterfield Park and get in touch with the natural world.

Thursday concluded with the original and the best Creative Writing Club in Southern California, with the same curriculum that helped many Cambridge students win honors in national writing competitions. The students began by generating story ideas in the first.

Friday's field trip to the golf course commenced on the lush putting green, where the professional golf instructor taught the students how to putt and all the students, except one, tried their best to putt the ball into the hole despite the tricky slope of the green.

Lunch hour was spent on the patio or inside the air-conditioned clubhouse, where the students chowed down on slices of pizza.

In the afternoon, the students tested their clubs and drivers on the driving range. With great instruction by the professional golf instructor, many students were able to assume the correct driving form and not only made contact with the golf balls but also sent them flying.

Last but not least, the day concluded with the Public Speaking class. Public speaking is so important that not a single student missed the class and went home early. The students introduced themselves in front of the whole class, practicing such skills as maintaining good posture, eye contact with the audience, and a confident demeanor.

It was a successful first week of the 2018 Cambridge Summer STEAM Camp. The students already gained a tremendous amount of new knowledge and skills. Furthermore, they made many new friends and had great fun. The instructors taught with dedication and professionalism, and the Cambridge staff members were infallibly caring toward the students. It will only get better in the next 9 weeks.

The best summer day camp for kids in Southern California began today. Cambridge Institute brought the knowledge, expertise, experience and professionalism of the best high school biology program in America to the 2018 Cambridge Summer STEAM Camp. The director, Dr. James Lin, M.D., will stay on site from 8 AM to 6:30 PM to supervise the operation of the camp. The 2018 STEAM camp also boasts great instructors and dedicated and caring staff.

The day started with the academic classes for all levels: Reading, Vocabulary and Math.

In the after noon, the students were challenged by rigorous science classes, followed by a short respite in a nearby open lounge. Finally, the day concluded with Chinese cultural class for 1st and 2nd graders, and the ultra-fun movie-making class for the bigger kids, in which students rehearse for two movies: Haunted Sleepover and Rock Star--The Final! Thus ended an eventful first day at the camp!
